چکیده

The treated effluent was collected from JK paper mill from its outlet. The physico-chemical characteristics of paper mill treated effluent were measured. The most of the quality parameters were found to be below the permissible limits prescribed by Indian irrigation water standard, except electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids and alkalinity. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of three irrigation treatments viz. treated paper mill effluent alone, best available water alone and both treatments alternatively on production of wheat, cabbage, green gram and groundnut. The study revealed that the irrigation with treated effluent significantly increased the fresh and dry biomass yield of all test crops as well as wheat equivalent yield compared to best available water. Total uptake of macro and micro nutrients were also affected significantly due to treated effluent irrigation treatment. Apart from soil fertility, irrigation with treated effluent significantly increased organic carbon, available N, P O , K O, Fe and Mn after harvest of the crops. However, 2 5 2 its application had negative impacts on the soil salinity and sodicity. From this study it can be concluded that if continuous use of treated effluent to any crops or trees in long runs, than it need to be assessed periodical status of soil salinity and sodicity.

The Impact of Climate Change on Grain Yield and Yield Variability in Iran

In this paper, we have examined the effect of climate variables on the yield average and variability of major grain crops (rice, maize, and wheat) in Iran from 1983 to 2014. For this purpose, we made use of the Just and Pope Production Function crop yields panel data. The results revealed that the influences of climate variables were different in the crops. The time trend positively influenced ...

Impact of Climate Variability on Cool Weather Crop Yield in Ethiopia

The research examined effect of climate variability on yield of the two dominant cool weather cereals (wheat and barley) in central highland and Arssi grain plough farming systems of Ethiopia using eight round unbalanced panel data (1994-2014). The stochastic frontier model result revealed that production inputs for producing wheat and barley in the two farming system had significant effect. Cr...

Dark Hydrogen Fermentation From Paper Mill Effluent (PME): The influence of Substrate Concentration and Hydrolysis

Paper mill effluent (PME) was used as an organic feedstock for production of biohydrogen via dark fermentation using heat-shock pretreated anaerobic sludge under mesophilic conditions. The influence of substrate concentration (5, 10 and 15 g-COD/L) and the initial pH (5 and 7) on the efficiency of dark hydrogen fermentation from PME were investigated. The highest hydrogen yield of 55.4 mL/g-COD...
